Miami Heat vs Charlotte Hornets
It was not a good outing for the Miami Heat last time out as they struggled to score the basketball against the Cleveland Cavaliers. Kyle Lowry was the lead scorer with 17 points and that should tell you everything you need to know. Miami hit the road to face southeast division rivals the Charlotte Hornets for the first of a back-to-back.
Duncan Robinson is having a good season so far and against Charlotte he would lead all Miami scorers with 24 points which included five 3-pointers. Jimmy Butler would trail that with 23 points followed by Caleb Martin with 20 points and nine rebounds. The rookie Jaime Jaquez Jr would chime in with 18 points but would foul out of the game.
For Charlotte it was Terry Rozier aka (Scary Terry) would drop 34 points including eight 3-pointers but that would not be enough. Miles Bridges would follow with 18 points and the once Miami Heat target Gordon Hayward would finish the game with 17 points. Brandon Miller would be the next player in double figures finishing the game with 15 points.
The Heat would be in cruise control most of the game until the 4th quarter where the 12-point Miami lead would dissipate as the Hornets cut it to one. The Heat showed fight as they did not allow Charlotte to take the lead always having a response of their own.
Rozier would hit a three making it 114-111 with just 43 seconds remaining in the game. Martin would be sent to the line making one of two with 9 seconds remaining. Rozier would be fouled where he would make both free throws. Butler would then be fouled only making one free throw but Charlotte would not be able to capitalize as they fall 116-114.
Next up for the Miami Heat is a home game welcoming the Charlotte Hornets to the Kaseya Center on Wednesday night.
