T.Y. Hilton to be inducted into FIU Hall of Fame

Florida International University Athletics Director Scott Carr has announced that T.Y. Hilton will become the first football player in program history to be inducted to the FIU Hall of Fame. Hilton stated "This moment means everything. Football is the game I loved. My teammates through my years here are bonds that will be forever kept, and being the first football player inducted to the FIU Athletics Hall of Fame at a prestigious college gives the journey a forever meaning".

Hilton made his collegiate debut as a true freshman on the road in front of 52,000 fans at Memorial Stadium breaking an 88-year attendance record for the Kansas Jayhawks. The future star would return a punt for 74 yards scoring the only touchdown for the Panthers against a Kansas team that was ranked No. 14 at the time.

Hilton would go on that season to score 12 touchdowns earning the Sun Belt Conference freshman player of the year. He would set a single-season program record with 1,013 receiving yards as well as 2,162 all-purpose yards. He would surprise everyone once again against a top program in Alabama having his first touch of his sophomore season and first touch of the game being a 97-yard kickoff return for a touchdown. Hilton finished his time at FIU with first-team All-Sun Belt recognition all four years as well as FIU's all time leader in receptions that still stands today.

T.Y. Hilton went on to a successful career in the NFL with the Indianapolis Colts and the Dallas Cowboys with his ceremony at FIU taking place on September 12 and September 13.
