Scottie Scheffler wins Open Championship
It was a battle this past weekend between Bryson DeChambeau and Scottie Scheffler to see who would take home the major title of The Open. DeChambeau closed his day out with a birdie on hole 18 closing the tournament with a grand score of 64. He would celebrate with fans at the final hole just in case he would hold onto the lead and win the major. Phil Mickelson had a great day but not enough and it was the same with Xander Schauffele. There was one man that was going to threaten Bryson's chances of winning that was Scottie Scheffler.
Just three hours later it would be Scheffler approaching the green on 18 having himself a four-shot lead being in prime position to win. Scheffler would drain a two-putt par to win the 153rd Open Championship making history. He would win The Open and The British Open in the same year as Xander Schauffele did last year. What came next would be the best moment of the whole tournament with Scottie's one-year old son Bennett making his way over to his father.
The history that was made would be Scheffler being the first golfer since Tiger Woods in 2006 to win four titles in one single PGA Tour season including two majors. The question now looms in the air if Scheffler is the best golfer of this generation and is he the standard or is he just hot right now? Scottie revealed the type of man he is with winning tournaments being the less of his importance with God and family being his main focus.
