Miami Hurricanes new coaching hire is a familiar face
The University of Miami has just hired, Tim Harris Jr., as the new running-backs coach. Tim
Harris Jr. replaces Kevin Smith for the position after he returns to Ole Miss with Lane Kiffin.
Tim was the offensive coordinator, running-backs coach, assistant head coach at UCF and was a
former four-time All-American runner for the Hurricanes. From 2015-2020, he was the OC for
the FIU Panthers. He was the head coach at Booker T. Washington from 2009-2014. He led
them to victory in the Class 4A state championship and even received the coach of the year
award. This is a great hire for the Miami Hurricanes for the fact that he has South Florida
connections, he's a Hurricanes alumni, he has NCAAF experience on the players side and
coaching side, plus how well his rushing attack was at UCF this past season. UCF’s rushing
offense in 2023 was ranked 9 th overall, which is impressive, but he also coordinated them to
having the 16 th ranked overall in total offense, 31 st overall in scoring and 11 th overall in first-
down offense. Seeing how bad Miami’s offense was last year with Josh Gattis and Kevin Smith,
now with Tim Harris Jr., the new OC, Shannon Dawson and the hugely improved offensive line
and new talented RB’s in Christopher Johnson and Mark Fletcher for Coach Harris to develop
for the programs future, this upcoming season is will be one for the ages.
