Inter Miami CF vs Orlando City
One of the most exciting times in the MLS season is when rivalry weekend arrives and teams get to face that other club that they absolutely despise. For Inter Miami CF, they welcomed rivals Orlando City to DRV PNK Stadium to try to earn bragging rights until the next meeting later on this season. Miami entered the match looking to get back on track after a midweek loss at Nashville.
The match started with both teams kind of feeling each other out and growing into the match. It was evident there was those nerves that you get at the beginning of a match when you're facing your rival. Orlando City would start taking the edge as the game wore in getting some good looks on the counter attack.
In the 19th minute it was Ercan Kara with a flick off the head surprising Drake Callender and past him into the back of the net giving the visitors a 1-0 lead.
Miami would respond with shutting down the Orlando attack and maintaining possession until the end of the first half. Going into the dressing room down 1-0 they controlled 59% of the ball credited to Nico Stefanelli stabilizing the midfield.
With possession being maintained in the second half, it was Deandre Yedlin once again finding himself being the creator. Yedlin found Josef Martinez at the top of the box who handed it over to Leonardo Campana who fired an absolute rocket past Pedro Gallese to equalize the match 1-1 sending the home fans into a frenzy.
The Lions of Orlando would not give up with substitute Martin Ojeda in the 68th minute giving his side the 2-1 lead which opened the door for the dagger. Rafael Santos joined the party in the 86th minute giving Orlando a 3-1 lead.
Orlando City would go on to defeat their rivals Inter Miami CF 3-1 and head back home with the +3 secured. Miami falls to 12th in the Eastern Conference just dropping one spot from 11th.
Next up for Inter Miami CF is a midweek matchup welcoming Nashville SC to DRV PNK Stadium for the round of 16 in the U.S. Open Cup followed by a road match at CF Montreal at the weekend.
