Miami Heat vs Minnesota Timberwolves
Just a year ago the Minnesota Timberwolves found themselves in the Western Conference Finals up against the Dallas Mavericks. Minnesota lost a big piece in Karl-Anthony Towns with his move to New York but they remain with the franchise star Anthony Edwards. The team led by Miami native Alex Rodriguez paid a visit to the Kaseya Center on Friday night to play the Miami Heat. The Heat come off of a close loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers 112-107.
Bam Adebayo once again led the team in scoring having a good stretch of games especially after passing Seikly for most double-doubles finishing the game with 29 points. Tyler Herro was back in the lineup after suffering from a head cold and finished the night with 22 points. The rest of the Heat lineup struggled with Davion Mitchell only scoring seven points followed by both Kevin Love and Pelle Larsson scoring six and five points. Off the bench for Miami it was Duncan Robinson providing consistent numbers as the six-man finishing with 15 points.
There really wasn't a main man in terms of scoring for the Timberwolves as everyone pinched in but out of the starting lineup it was both Naz Reid and Mike Conley finishing the game with 15 points. Both Julius Randle and Jaden McDaniels contributed to the game with 13 points. Anthony Edwards as well finished his night with 13 points. Off the bench for the Timberwolves was Donte DiVincenzo finishing his night with 15 points.
For the first time since the 2016-2017 season the Minnesota Timberwolves had a chance to avoid being swept in the season series by the Heat. Reid would go ahead and hit a three-pointer with four minutes remaining in the 4th that would put the Wolves ahead 98-95 in which Reid would later extend that lead. McDaniels was 6 of 12 from the field which added to his streak making it five straight games with a shooting percentage of 50 or better.
Edwards would hit a pair of free throws with just eight seconds remaining in the game putting Minnesota up 106-101. Robinson on the other end would hit a three putting the game 106-104 with just three seconds remaining. Conley would turn the ball over giving Miami a chance to tie or to win the game with Adebayo taking a three missing the shot but Miami felt like he got fouled. The Timberwolves would hold on to defeat the Heat 106-104.
Up next for the Miami Heat is a home game welcoming the Chicago Bulls to the Kaseya Center.
