Florida Panthers vs Columbus Blue Jackets
The Florida Panthers are now working on five consecutive victories having a remarkable end to the month of February and start to March. The Panthers also made some moves at the NHL trade deadline receiving Kaapo Kahkonen from Winnipeg, Nico Strum from San Jose, Vitek Vanecek from San Jose, they gave an extension to Jesper Boqvist. Florida might not be done yet with several hours remaining in the trade deadline. They would welcome the Columbus Blue Jackets to the Amerant Bank Arena.
Off of a power play five minutes into the first period it would be Sam Reinhart getting his 32nd goal of the season to make it 1-0. The Blue Jackets would challenge the goal but after review the challenge was unsuccessful leaving the Panthers with the goal. Sergei Bobrovsky has a chance to move to 10th on NHL career win list. He would stop 16 shots in the game looking for his second shutout in four games and his fourth of the season.
The Panthers would double the lead in the second period by way of Samoskevich earning his 11th goal of the season through another power play making the score 2-0. Elvis Merzlikins would make 33 saves for the Blue Jackets. The Panthers have won 10 of their last 12 in the Atlantic Division which seven of those they had Bobrovsky in the net.
An empty net at the end of the third period saw the Florida captain Barkov take advantage of that putting the game to bed scoring to make it 3-0. Columbus who are currently 5-4-1 are currently sitting in a wild-card berth position. It indeed would be a shutout for Bobrovsky moving him to 10th and his previous shutout was against Calgary this past Saturday. The Panthers collect their fifth straight victory defeating Columbus 3-0.
Up next for the Florida Panthers is a home game welcoming the Buffalo Sabres to the Amerant Bank Arena.
