Florida Panthers vs Seattle Kraken
Back to regular scheduled programming in the National Hockey League after the league stopped for the newly introduced Four Nations Face-off tournament. Sweden, Finland, United States, and Canada participated with several Panthers being called up for their country. The final was between Canada and United States with the Canadians taking the 3-2 victory in overtime. This led to the season continuing with the Panthers hosting the Seattle Kraken.
Slow start for both teams but it would be the visiting Kraken in the first period that would take advantage. A power play in their favor saw Kakko assisted by Beniers put Seattle up 1-0 just six minutes into the game. The Panthers would be without Matthew Tkachuk who got injured in the four nations tournament and will return this season but will miss some time.
You know the Panthers don't go down without a fight and would find the equalizing goal in the second period 11 minutes in. Luostarinen would be the man to find the back of the net for Florida assisted by Lundell to make it 1-1. The Kraken entered this game after the break riding a three-game losing streak. Jordan Eberle returned to the lineup for the Kraken after missing 39 games due to a pelvic injury playing against Chicago.
The Panthers had scored late in the second period but a challenge from Seattle denied the goal and would take the lead away from Florida. Jared McCann in the final period would break the deadlock and give Seattle the 2-1 lead. The Kraken would take the victory breaking the losing streak and snap a five-game winning streak at home for Florida. Before the break the Panthers had won nine out of the last 12 games.
Next up for the Florida Panthers is a road game visiting the Nashville Predators.
