Miami Heat vs Portland Trail Blazers

Miami Heat vs Portland Trail Blazers

The lineup of Bam Adebayo, Tyler Herro, Jaime Jaquez Jr, Terry Rozier, and Haywood Highsmith has been working for the Miami Heat in the absence of Jimmy Butler. The team has stated that they've got enough to get the job done with the guys they've got in the lockeroom. This has been proven true so far with two consecutive victories over the Golden State Warriors and Utah Jazz. The road trip continued in the west with the Heat visiting the Portland Trail Blazers.

Tyler Herro with yet another stellar game finishing the night with 32 points going 11/22 from the field leading the Heat. Haywood Highsmith had a way better game this time around being the lineups second best scorer in this game finishing with 14 points. Bam Adebayo was right after that finishing with 13 points followed by both Terry Rozier and Jaime Jaquez Jr rounding out the lineup with 11 points. The most impressive was Nikola Jovic coming off the bench contributing with 21 points.

For the Trail Blazers it was Anfernee Simons dropping 28 points against Miami going 10/23 from the field. Shaedon Sharpe followed suit scoring 22 points and would be followed by Deni Avdija scoring 15 points. Donovan Clingan who was charged with a flagrant penalty one late in the game finished with eight points. Closing off the starting lineup for Portland would be Toumani Camara finishing the game with just six points. Kris Murray contributed off the bench finishing with 10 points.

The two injuries in this game for both Miami and Portland would be Josh Richardson who's been out since November with a heel injury would miss this one and for the Blazers it was Matisse Thybulle who is in physical rehab for a right ankle injury and will be re-evaluated in two weeks. A key moment in the game was Rozier and Jovic hitting back-to-back three pointers putting the Heat up 52-39 and would go into the break 66-48. Miami shot well beyond the arch having 13 three pointers in the first half.

Herro who continues to make a case for himself to be named an All-Star has hit at least one three-pointer in every single game he has played this season. The Heat would take a 94-83 lead heading into the final quarter and would not give up that lead. Miami would go on to defeat Portland by a final score of 119-98 making it three consecutive victories for the Heat. Miami currently sits 7th in the Eastern Conference but is tied record wise with the Milwaukee Bucks in 6th.

Next up for the Miami Heat is a road game visiting the Los Angeles Clippers.
