Florida Panthers vs Boston Bruins
The two game road trip for the Florida Panthers was split in half with a loss starting out the trip 3-1 to the Colorado Avalanche. The Panthers would bounce back with a 4-1 thrashing of the Utah Hockey Club in their first ever meeting. Many analysts are predicting the Panthers don't have enough in the tank to reach the Stanley Cup Finals after back-to-back runs to the final stage. Up next for the Panthers was a home game welcoming the Boston Bruins who have developed a strong rivalry with Florida.
With many Bruins fans in attendance at the Amerant Bank Arena it was the visitors getting on the board fast with Geekie assisted by Lohrei on a power play putting Boston up 1-0. The Panthers hit back on a power play as well with Evan Rodrigues finding the back of the net assisted by Balinskis to tie the game 1-1. So far this season and as of late historically the Panthers have been getting the best of the Bruins especially in the playoffs.
In the second period it was the Bruins who would recapture the lead through the stick of Pastrnak assisted by Geekie making it 2-1. Boston would find success scoring after going eight games without a goal through a power play. Florida remains the only team in the league that has not lost a game in regulation by a one-goal deficit. The Panthers have a combined 10 goals between the last two matches against the Bruins.
The third period it was the Panthers finding goal through Sam Reinhart assisted by Barkov to even the game 2-2. Wahlstrom had something to say about that for the Bruins just two minutes later assisted by McAvoy giving Boston the lead back 3-2. It looked like it was going to be a Boston victory but with just one second left the cardiac cats struck once again. Reinhart would tie the game 3-3 assisted by Bennett sending the game to overtime. In overtime with just 19 seconds remaining a deflected shot from Pastrnak on a power play found the back of the net giving the Bruins the 4-3 victory over the Panthers.
Up next for the Florida Panthers is a road game visiting the Philadelphia Flyers.
