Miami Heat vs Los Angeles Lakers

Miami Heat vs Los Angeles Lakers

The Heat are 3-2 on this road trip in the west coast after falling to the Los Angeles Clippers. The news out of Miami is that Pat Riley had a meeting with Jimmy Butler where Butler made it clear that after this season he will not be signing a new deal with Miami. Butler will also have an upcoming meeting with Heat owner Mikey Arison which will definitely clear up the air in what's next for Butler and the Heat. The Heat meanwhile finished up the road trip visiting LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers. The Lakers are currently 6th in the Western Conference.

Tyler Herro led the team once again with an outstanding 34 points going 12 for 18 from the field. Right after Herro it was Haywood Highsmith that would finish the game with 12 points followed by Jaime Jaquez Jr who was back in his hometown finishing with 11 points. Jaquez Jr would have his high school jersey retired while he was in town. Bam Adebayo would finish the game with 10 points and rounding off the starting lineup was Terry Rozier finishing with just six points. Coming off the bench was Nikola Jovic contributing with 12 points.

The Lakers starting lineup did very well with all players ending up in double figures starting with Rui Hachimura finishing with 23 points. Both Anthony Davis and LeBron James would finish the game with 22 points followed by Max Christie who finished the night with 16 points. Rounding out the Los Angeles starting lineup was Austin Reaves with 14 points. Former Heat player Gabe Vincent contributed off the bench with 14 points.

The Lakers trailed by 12 points heading into halftime but would move past the Heat 88-87 with 10 minutes remaining after a Los Angeles 15-4 run. After this game Butler is expected to return to the team as he completed his seven-game suspension. Entering this game the Lakers were on a three-game losing streak which tied the longest this season. The other streaks occurred when the Lakers went 2-7 in the month of December.

Jaxson Hayes would come up with a big steal starting up a fast break after passing the ball to Reaves who would follow the play ending it on a dunk to give the Lakers the 90-87 lead with 10 minutes remaining. Herro would go seven of eight from the floor in the first half which included five of five from three-point range and three for three from the charity stripe. The Lakers came from behind to defeat the Heat 117-108 leaving Miami finishing 3-3 on the road trip.

Up next for the Miami Heat is a home game welcoming the Denver Nuggets to the Kaseya Center.
