Florida Panthers vs Los Angeles Kings

Florida Panthers vs Los Angeles Kings

It's the start of a four-game road trip for the Florida Panthers which started in Southern California with the Panthers facing the Anaheim Ducks. Before on embarking on this road trip the Panthers faced the Ducks at home and defeated them 3-0. It was a different story at the Honda Center with Florida getting an onslaught of goals defeating the Ducks 5-2. The Panthers turn their attention across town to face the Los Angeles Kings who they will face back home next week.

In the opening period there were no goals scored by either team. The Panthers looked fatigued to start this game having played just the night before in Anaheim. Good news for Florida even though they're still on the road they'll have two days to rest. Helenius for the Kings had the lowest amount of time on the ice of any Kings player but would come up with his first career goal through 25 games and would be a pivotal moment to turn the tide.

The Panthers really haven't benefitted from power plays this season instead they've been giving up power plays. In this game they were able to get one and made the Kings pay seven minuted into the second period. It was Evan Rodrigues assisted by Lundell to put Florida on the board first making the game 1-0. The Panthers maintained the lead keeping the Kings off the board heading into the final period looking to extend the winning streak to three.

The third period was all the Los Angeles Kings as the Panthers tired out and could not give anymore then what they were giving. Six minutes into the period it was Helenius assisted by Jeannot which would equalize the game 1-1. Just seven minutes later the Kings found the back of the net once again this time through Kempe assisted by Fiala to give them the lead 2-1. This score would hold as the Kings defeat the Panthers 2-1.

Up next for the Florida Panthers is a road game visiting the San Jose Sharks.
