Miami Heat vs Los Angeles Lakers
It was a disappointing result for the Miami Heat last time out as they got demolished by the defending champion Boston Celtics 108-89 on the road. Miami were without several players but would get them back for the next matchup. The Heat would welcome back LeBron James and his Los Angeles Lakers who come off a disaster defeat as well against the Minnesota Timberwolves 109-80. It's also a welcome home for former Heat player Gabe Vincent.
Leading the way for the Heat was boy wonder who's been hot this season Tyler Herro finishing the game with 31 points. Jimmy Butler who returned to the lineup after missing the game against Boston followed Herro with 17 points. Both Haywood Highsmith and Bam Adebayo would tally 14 points with Duncan Robinson closing out the starters with just seven points. Terry Rozier off the bench finished the night with 16 points and Kevin Love returning to the lineup as well contributed with 10 points off the bench.
A much better game for James this time around after a terrible game in Minnesota he finished with 29 points in Miami. Rui Hachimura would follow James scoring 14 points and D'Angelo Russell coming in next with 12 points. It was a really frustrating night for Anthony Davis who would put up only eight points in the entire night. Dalton Knecht would only contribute to the game with two points and off the bench it was Max Christie leading the way with 11 points.
King James would break a streak making 12 of his 18 shots which would snap a six-game streak of the former Miami man shooting less than 50%. The last time that happened for James was in his rookie season in 2003 with many saying that James is slowing down and should retire. The Heat had its largest lead of the entire season leading the Lakers by 43 points at one point. The last largest lead for Miami came on November 2nd against the Washington Wizards were they led by 24 points.
A key moment in this game was the third quarter when Tyler Herro hit seven triples totaling 21 points in the third quarter alone. This feature would tie the Heat record for most threes in a quarter becoming even with Duncan Robinson who also hit seven against the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2019. Gabe Vincent had six triples in 2022 in the third quarter for the now Lakers man. James also with a three-pointer in the third quarter would surpass Kyle Korver for 7th all-time in three-pointers. It wasn't enough as the Heat defeat the Lakers 134-93.
Up next for the Miami Heat is a home game welcoming the Phoenix Suns to the Kaseya Center.
