 Florida Panthers vs Philadelphia Flyers 



The second meeting this season between the Florida Panthers and the Philadelphia Flyers with the first matchup being in Sunrise. It was an exciting first matchup with the Panthers defeating the Flyers 4-3 with the game coming down to a shootout. Florida is currently second in the Atlantic Division and fifth in the Eastern Conference. For the Flyers they currently sit fifth in the Metropolitan Division and sit ninth in the conference. Philadelphia's last match was a 3-2 victory in overtime over the St. Louis Blues. 










The Panthers came out the gate swinging with Evan Rodrigues scoring unassisted just two minutes into the match making it an early 1-0 Florida lead. Just four minutes later it was the Panthers once again doubling the lead with Mikkola assisted by Matthew Tkachuk making it a 2-0 game. The two Panther goals would be the only goals from either team in the first period.












The second period was filled with action with a power play going in favor of Florida which lead to a goal by Barkov assisted by Sam Reinhart making it 3-0. This game looked like it was going into the win column for Florida but a power play against the Panthers saw the Flyers get on the board 3-1 with a goal from Foerster. Two minutes later it was the Flyers again making it 3-2 with Seeler going unassisted making this a match. Panthers would get another power play finding the back of the net through Carter Verhaeghe making the game 4-2. Tippett would go back-to-back within a minute for Philadelphia tying the game up 4-4 to end the second period.












The home crowd at the Wells Fargo Center erupted just five minutes into the third period when Hathaway gave the Flyers the lead 5-4. The Cardiac Cats were awakened starting with Gustav Forsling tying the game back up 5-5 assisted by Bennett. Reinhart off of a power play would give the Panthers the lead back 6-5 assisted by Verhaeghe. The nail in the coffin was an empty net goal from Tkachuk as Florida comes back for three straight goals. The Panthers go ahead and defeat the Flyers by a final score of 7-5.












Next up for the Florida Panthers is a home game welcoming the San Jose Sharks to Amerant Bank Arena.
