A change in leadership at FIU
A day after the 2024 season concluded, Florida International University announced a change to the leadership of the football program. Head coach Mike MacIntyre had been relieved of his duties which was expected after much criticism from fans, alumni, and former players after MacIntyre claimed the Panthers had no history at all. This comes after the Panthers ended the season with a home victory defeating Middle Tennessee 35-24.
Season in Review:
FIU 7-31 Indiana
FIU 52-16 Central Michigan
FIU 20-38 FAU
FIU 42-45 Monmouth
FIU 17-10 Louisiana Tech
FIU 24-31 Liberty
FIU 21-30 UTEP
FIU 7-10 Sam Houston
FIU 34-13 New Mexico State
FIU 31-34 Jacksonville State
FIU 26-27 Kennesaw State
FIU 35-24 Middle Tennessee
In all reality this was a season where the Panthers could've been bowl eligible for the first time since 2019. FIU left the door open on many close games they could've won and games like Kennesaw State and Monmouth where they shouldn't have lost. For the third time under MacIntyre the Panthers finished 4-8 with no real improvement through results for the program. FIU now begins its search for a brand new head coach.
