Miami Heat vs Phoenix Suns
First game of a six-game road trip begins out in the valley for the Miami Heat visiting Kevin Durant and the Phoenix Suns. Miami comes into the Footprint Center after falling at home to the Sacramento Kings 111-110 due to a late bucket from Sabonis. The Heat have really struggled so far this season in the 3rd quarter maintaining a lead. The Suns on the other hand are off to a fantastic start to the season with a record of 6-1 coming off of a win against the Philadelphia 76ers.
Tyler Herro continues to be a positive for the Miami Heat having a scorching start to the season finishing this game with 28 points which led the team. Haywood Highsmith would score 19 points followed by Jimmy Butler who would add on 15 points. Bam Adebayo would go ahead and tack on 12 points along with 12 rebounds. The Heat are going to need more production from Butler and Adebayo if they want to be in contention against playoff teams like Phoenix.
For the Suns it was future hall of famer Kevin Durant who finished the night with 32 points drilling some key buckets for his team. Jusuf Nurkic was another big key for Phoenix finishing the game with 20 points and 18 rebounds really bringing the battle to Adebayo. Devin Booker clocked in with 22 points and nine assists. The biggest help from the bench for the Suns was Grayson Allen coming in with 12 points giving some productive minutes.
The Suns were down 79-64 in the third quarter but would end the quarter by going on a 15-3 run that would cut the Heat's lead to just three. It was another third quarter meltdown for Miami leaving it all to play for in the fourth quarter. There was no clear and obvious control from either team in the final quarter but Durant would drill a dagger from midrange with 16 seconds on the clock to give the Suns a four-point lead. Bradley Beal was in foul trouble and did not score in the first half hit a dagger three-pointer to give the Suns the lead.
The Heat stayed alive and would have a chance to tie this game up and send it to overtime but pure confusion ruined their chances. An inbound play to Butler who gives it to Herro who returns it to Butler wasted a lot of time on the clock with the buzzer going off with the ball still in Butler's hands. The Heat did not fire off a final shot and the Suns would take the 115-112 victory.
Next up for the Miami Heat is a road game visiting the Denver Nuggets.
