Miami Heat vs Denver Nuggets
The road trip continues to the mile high city for the Miami Heat facing the Denver Nuggets at Ball Arena for what is a rematch of the 2023 NBA Finals. The weather was cold and snowing outside with Miami looking to heat up after a loss last time out. Kevin Durant and the Suns defeated Miami last time they took the court after another third quarter meltdown. For the Nuggets it was a 124-122 victory at home last time out against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
For the Miami Heat it was once again boy wonder Tyler Herro having another big night leading the team in scoring with 24 points. Bam Adebayo would follow finally having a big night scoring 20 points with nine rebounds. Terry Rozier had a productive night tallying 15 points on the board and the youngster Nikola Jovic earning himself 11 points. Jimmy Butler exited the game with just two points after turning his ankle and would not return.
Leading the way for the Denver Nuggets was the big man Nikola Jokic aka the Joker with 30 points and 11 rebounds. His partner in crime Jamal Murray follow him with 28 points with both Michael Porter Jr and Christian Braun finishing with 21 points. The last starter as well finishing in double digits was Peyton Watson with 16 points. The Denver bench did not need to be a huge factor with the starting five performing the way they did.
This was the first game for Murray after missing the last three after being in concussion protocol. Denver would start the game going on a 17-6 run which would make it a 40-point first quarter. The Heat would never lead in this game and were down as much as 26 points. The Nuggets have seemed to find their groove after starting the season 0-2. Russell Westbrook had another great outing from the bench having his assists in double digits.
Jokic would finish the game with a triple-double making it his third straight game with one. The Nuggets would easily blow by the Heat with a final score of 135-122. Miami spent most of the game without Butler who is the teams second highest scorer. The Heat have now lost four out of the last five games. The Nuggets on the other hand have won six out of their last seven games. Heat fans hope that Butler will not have to miss an extended period of time.
Next up for the Miami Heat is a road game visiting the Minnesota Timberwolves.
