Florida Panthers vs Philadelphia Flyers
The Florida Panthers have finally found their groove this season and back to looking like the Stanley Cup champions. After a couple of days off after securing a 6-2 victory over the Nashville Predators it was right back to Amerant Bank Arena for the Panthers. Florida would welcome the Philadelphia Flyers who are really struggling so far this season positing a 5-7 record. The last time out for the Flyers it was a 2-1 victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning in a penalty shootout.
Right off the bat in the first period just four minutes in it was Farabee assisted by Laughton for the Philadelphia Flyers giving the road team a 1-0 lead over the defending champions. That would be Farabee's third goal of the season and Laughton's fourth assist of the season. The Panthers could not find the back of the net in the first period leaving them with work to do in the second. The Flyers would hold the 1-0 advantage through one.
The cardiac cats would awaken in the second period with Schmidt finding the back of the net to equalize 1-1 with the assist going to Evan Rodrigues. Florida would take the lead just three minuted by way of Kulikov assisted by Rodrigues again making it 2-1. The Flyers would respond to equalize the match through Richard assisted by Konecny to make it 2-2. The second period would end with Sam Bennett giving the Panther lead assisted by Carter Verhaeghe making it 3-2.
Only one goal would arrive in the third period and it would be the Flyers to equalize 3-3 with the goal coming from Hathaway. Laughton would get his second assist of the game with this one heading to OT all knotted up. In OT neither team would find the winning goal sending it to a penalty shootout. In the shootout it was Sergei Bobrovsky coming up big with multiple stops and Evan Rodrigues scoring the final penalty to give the Panthers the 4-3 victory in their first shootout of the season.
Next up for the Florida Panthers is a home game welcoming the New Jersey Devils to Amerant Bank Arena.
