MIAMI handles FSU in rivalry matchup
The Miami Hurricanes have left their fans on life support the last couple weeks with close games against VA TECH, CAL and LOUISVILLE. The question hasn’t been about the offense but about this very young suspect defense. There have been too many blown coverages that have led to big plays, and heading into Florida State week that is the area everyone is looking at. FSU HC Mike Norvell has faced these Mario Cristobal coached Hurricanes team the past three seasons, so he knows what to expect heading into this game.
The Seminoles head into this game with a (1-6) overall record and are one loss away from being eliminated from bowl eligibility. Cam Ward comes into this game knowing that FSU has tons of talent and that their record means nothing.
Miami comes out going down the field with absolute ease ending in a rushing touchdown by Mark Fletcher Jr., whose father passed away before the game, he takes a knee to pay respect. (7-0)
The Hurricanes get consecutive stops and go on to score 18-yard rushing TD but this time by Oregon State transfer RB Damien Martinez. (14-0)
Florida State answers with a 1-yard rushing TD by Caziah Holmes. (14-7)
Miami went on to end the 1st half with an easy 20-yard FG for Andres Borregales. (17-7)
We head into the 2nd half and Miami ends up scoring two FG’s and holding FSU scoreless in the 3rd Q. (23-7)
Heading into this final quarter, the Hurricanes have done a reasonably decent job defending.
Cam Ward breaks the touchdown drought since (14:09 2Q) with a Philly special from Elijah Arroyo but end up not converting the two-point conversation. (29-7)
FSU’s offense continues to struggle going down the field. Miami continues to roll on offense and goes on to score a third rushing TD of the night by RB Damien Martinez. (36-7)
With 0:18 left in the game, the Seminoles scored a TD, a 5-yard pass to Malik Benson from Brock Glenn. (36-14)
Miami defeats Florida State (36 – 14).
