Panthers feast on the Aggies
Florida International University went into this week with an overall record of (2-6, W-L) and I mention the record because FIU needs to win the rest of their games to be bowl eligible, they would have to finish 6-6.
At Pitbull Stadium, the (2-6) FIU Panthers faced off against (2-5) the New Mexico State Aggies. The game began with a scoreless first quarter but that’s okay cause the second quarter was electric.
-NMST scores first with a tremendous FG kick from 57-yards from Kicker, Abraham Montano. (3-0)
- FIU answers back quickly with a TOUCHDOWN BOMB to Eric Rivers for 52-yards from Keyone Jenkins. (7-3)
- NMST’s kicker, Abraham Montano, goes for another incredible FG kick for 54-yards. (6-7)
-FIU comes out slinging it again to Eric Rivers for 45-yards to the NMST 30, but the drive ends up in a 24-yard FG by Alejandro Prado. (10-6)
-FIU QB Keyone Jenkins goes for another 50+ yard TOUCHDOWN to Eric Rivers! (17-6)
-Unfortunately, NMST gets intercepted which leads to FIU 38-yard FG by Alejandro Prado. (20-6)
-NMST answers with a 27-yard TD run by Mike Washington, giving the Aggies some room to breathe. (20-13)
-FIU goes on a 14-play TD drive. Keyone Jenkins with an easy 2-yard pass to Dean Patterson. (27-13)
-ANOTHER ONE!!!! ERIC RIVERS FOR 62-YARD TD PASS FROM JENKINS. (34-13)
-NMST finishes the game by getting intercepted.
FINAL SCORE: FIU 34-13 NMST
What an incredible night for Eric Rivers, finishing with 11 receptions, 295 yards, and 3 TD’s. Rivers has just broken the FIU single game receiving record (295). The Panthers avoid bowl game eligibility elimination and most importantly, PAWS UP!
