Florida Panthers vs New York Islanders
The Florida Panthers would stay put and stay in the big apple as they took on the other New York team that being the Islanders. The Panthers would continue to make their mark against the New York Rangers who they faced in the playoffs defeating them 3-1 handing them their first loss of the season. The Islanders enter this game with a 3-4 record with the last game taking a victory 4-3 against the New Jersey Devils. The Islanders look to have a better season this year and make a push to make the playoffs this season.
The beginning of this game was a train wreck at the UBS Arena with the Islanders hitting the Panthers hard in the first period. It was Dennis Cholowski, Kyle Palmieri, and Brock Nelson all scoring goals making it a 3-0 New York lead. Goaltender Semyon Varlamov would end in the stat sheet with 22 saves. Many thought this game was over but as true Panther fans know this team wasn't called the cardiac cats for nothing.
Then the unthinkable happened and it all started with Sam Reinhart getting hid 6th goal of the season with 13:27 on the clock in the first period. Right at the beginning of the second period it was Matthew Tkachuk would find the back of the net making it 3-2. Towards the end of the period it was Samoskevich with his first goal on the season equalizing the game 3-3. The comeback was complete as the second period came to a close.
Early on in the third period it was Sam Bennett tallying his third goal of the season to give the Panthers the lead 4-3. Off of a power play it was Tkachuk earning his second of the game and of the season doubling the lead making it 5-3. At the dying moments of the game with an empty Islanders net it was Gustav Forsling joining the party and getting a goal. The Panthers would go on and defeat the Islanders by a final score of 6-3.
Next up for the Florida Panthers is a road game visiting the Buffalo Sabres.
