Miami Heat vs Charlotte Hornets
The alarms were sounding around the Miami Heat fan base after the Heat tipped off the season with an embarrassing loss to the Orlando Magic. A game that saw Jimmy Butler only put up three points and only nine points for Bam Adebayo. Even though the Miami Heat hit the road to face the Charlotte Hornets it's a special weekend back at home as the organization reveals the Dwyane Wade statue in front of the Kaseya Center. It would be a nice way to wrap up the weekend if the Heat can come away with the first victory of the season.
For Jimmy Butler he definitely elevated his game and showed up to work against Charlotte finishing with 26 points scoring 13 of those in the 4th quarter. Tyler Herro also stepped up to the plate adding five three-pointers finishing with 22 points on the night. Terry Rozier had another nice night capping the night with 19 points and Adebayo who didn't have the best night but much better this time around with 12 points and 11 rebounds.
For the Charlotte Hornets it was LaMelo Ball with 27 points, eight rebounds, and seven assists as he's marked himself as the star franchise player for Charlotte in recent years. The Hornets organization did two emotional things on the night. One was honoring long time public address announcer Pat Doughty as well as honoring the victims of Hurricane Helene.
The Hornets did not look like they were on the same page combining for 20 turnovers and twice in this game were whistled for 5-second calls. The Heat were able to keep any comeback by Charlotte at bay and get through the storm. Key players like Butler, Herro, and Duncan Robinson would all drain important three-pointers putting in the dagger.
Tre Mann brought the Hornets within three but could not get it done with Charlotte already missing Brandon Miller, Mark Williams, and Josh Green just three games into the season due to injuries. The Miami Heat would defeat the Charlotte Hornets by a final score of 114-106 capturing the first win of the season.
Next up for the Miami Heat is home game welcoming the Detroit Pistons to the Kaseya Center.
