 Inter Miami CF vs NYCFC

A sold-out crowd Saturday afternoon at the legendary Yankee Stadium where NYCFC have been struggling to pick up wins. For Inter Miami CF it was the second meeting but first at the historic stadium with lots of people showing up to see Lionel Messi like the rest of the country has. NYCFC entered the match after being battered against the Philadelphia Union 5-1. Miami enters the match after a road draw against Atlanta United.

At the end of the match and this is not something we say often but Messi had the worst player rating amongst his teammates. It was not his day and got into it with a NYCFC defender jawing back and fourth most of the second half. The Argentine would have a free-kick in the 5th minute just going wide right but did not miss by much. Both teams were even especially defensively not allowing any attack become a present threat.

It would be 0-0 all the way to the whistle sending both teams to the dressing room even. Miami's attack look flat struggling to find any production in the final third. Meanwhile New York City had flashes of brilliance moving forward especially when Maxi Moralez would move forward with the ball. Drake Callender came up with some huge saves off of shots that easily could've put NYCFC up.

The deadlock would break in the second half when substitute Leonardo Campana entered the match. Miami's new all-time lead scorer would find the back of the net in the 75th minute off of a great team play to make it 1-0. NYCFC would fire back in stoppage time with James Sands going unmarked on a corner kick getting his head on the end of it leaving Callender watching while the ball hit the net to make it 1-1. That would be the final score leaving the supporters shield race interesting with two back-to-back draws for Miami.

Next up for Inter Miami CF is a home match welcoming Charlotte FC to Chase Stadium.
