Inter Miami CF vs FC Cincinnati

Inter Miami CF vs FC Cincinnati

A return to league play for Inter Miami CF after being eliminated by the Columbus Crew in the quarterfinals of the Leagues Cup. After losing the Champions Cup and Leagues Cup, the South Florida side is down to one trophy this season and that is the MLS Cup. The team is still without Lionel Messi due to injury but seem to be doing a great job holding their own. Miami welcomed second place FC Cincinnati to Chase Stadium who spanked them last time they met.

A win for Inter Miami CF would clinch a spot in the 2024 Audi MLS Cup Playoffs and would be the first ones in the league to clinch. They were off to a great start as Luis Suarez scored the fastest goal in club history in just 31 seconds. Suarez would receive a pass controlling it off his chest firing it past the keeper for 1-0. Suarez would also become the player with the most goals in a single season for the club with 17 goals.

Just minutes later it was Suarez combining play with Matías Rojas who would sneak a ball into the box and with one touch Suarez would fire it past the keeper to make it 2-0. That would become his 18th goal overall and 14th in league play. For Rojas that would be his third assist of the season. The Uruguayan would put Miami in a great position to clinch but it was early on and a lot of match left to be played.

The second half would see Miami fall down to 10 men with Tomás Avilés in a collision would pick up the red card to make things interesting. Cincinnati had their moments to get back into the match but Drake Callender would come up with some huge saves. Miami would on to the 2-0 lead for the victory, for the three points, and to clinch a spot in the 2024 playoffs. The Herons would avenge their loss to Cincinnati earlier in the year.

Next up for Inter Miami CF is a road match visiting the Chicago Fire at Soldier Field.
