The Miami FC vs Charleston Battery

The Miami FC vs Charleston Battery

The last victory for The Miami FC was on April 27th against San Antonio FC as it is now July with the squad still searching for a victory. The team sits at the bottom of the table of the Eastern Conference as they hit the road to face the Charleston Battery. The Battery currently sit in second place of the conference entering this match coming off a 2-2 draw against the Hartford Athletic. This would prove a challenge for Miami.

Goalkeeper Daniel Gagliardi was back in the lineup after suffering an injury early on in the season. Gagliardi was under pressure to start the match off making countless of saves keeping his team in the game and the score knotted at zero. Roberto Molina came close to giving the away side the lead with a shot that ended up bouncing around the box that was finally cleared by a Charleston defender.

Charleston would then have an opportunity of their own with Juan Torres with a shot just going wide. The possession heavily favored the Battery with more chances coming from Torres once again and Markanich but would result in saves from Gagliardi. Both teams would head to the dressing room all knotted up 0-0. Miami would take this as a positive holding the second place team to zero goals in the first half.

That would all end up at the beginning of the second half with Charleston's lead scorer Markanich finding the back of the net in the 47th minute to make it 1-0 for the home side. Markanich would grab a brace in this match when a penalty was awarded to his side allowing him to step up to the spot and slotting it home past Gagliardi. The result would stay the same till the final whistle with the Battery keeping all three points with the 2-0 victory over Miami.

Next up for The Miami FC is a home match welcoming the Oakland Roots to FIU Stadium at the weekend.
