Inter Miami CF vs Chicago Fire

Inter Miami CF vs Chicago Fire

The race for the supporters shield is starting to open up a gap as Inter Miami CF continues to get results even without Lionel Messi. FC Cincinnati who is Miami's closest adversary in the race for the supporters shield has dropped points allowing Miami to open up the gap. Miami's next opponent the Chicago Fire happened to be one of the teams who defeated Cincinnati helping out the South Florida side. The Fire sit 14th in the Eastern Conference but in this league you can never doubt a team at the bottom of the table as Chicago brings much fight.

Miami showcased their new kits in front of Chase Stadium with the kits mimicking the Miami Dolphins and rated as one of the best kits. Lionel Messi was honored before the match by Jorge Mas for his 45th title after he helped claim the Copa America with Argentina. This match was all Miami from the beginning as Matias Rojas would find the opener in just the 6th minute with a play built up by Robert Taylor and Tomas Aviles to make it 1-0.

The rest of the first half we saw Miami trying to find the second of the match. Chicago was holding on by the skin of their teeth to not concede again. In stoppage time of the first half it would be Julian Gressel who would hit the crossbar but nothing coming of the opportunity. Miami would head into the dressing room with a 1-0 lead leaving Chicago to draw up a plan for a comeback in the second half.

A comeback indeed is what the Fire were able to accomplish although it did take some time. Rafael Czichos finding the equalizer to make it 1-1. Chicago were back in the match despite not playing well in the match. Miami would fire right back due to miscommunication between the Chicago keeper and back line. Jordi Alba would have a wide open net to fire into giving his team the 2-1 lead. That scoreline would hold giving Miami the three points with the victory.

Next up for Inter Miami CF is the All-Star break followed by the defense of their Leagues Cup title.
