Inter Miami CF vs Nashville SC

Inter Miami CF vs Nashville SC

Since the 2020 season both Inter Miami CF and Nashville SC have created a rivalry that has been fun to watch. The two meet once again for the second time this season with Miami taking the first meeting. Miami enters this match coming off a 2-1 victory at home against the Columbus Crew. For Nashville, they enter this meeting against Miami coming off a 1-0 victory over NYCFC. Miami continues to lead the Eastern Conference plus the supporters shield meanwhile Nashville currently sits in 7th.

Miami has been faring well without its two stars in Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez due to Copa America. It took Miami just 10 minutes to get on the board against Nashville. Homegrown defender Ian Fray was on the receiving end from a cross from Julian Gressel to make it 1-0. This is the second goal from Fray since returning from a long spell of injury. The assist would be the seventh for Gressel so far this season.

Just 4 minutes after Miami took the lead they would find the back of the net again to double it. Jordi Alba would score what should be considered one of the best goals not only for Miami but for MLS this season. Alba would hit a volley that left no opportunity for Nashville keeper Joe Willis to save finding the back of the net to make it 2-0. This left Nashville in a hole and in shock after moving the ball against Miami to start the match.

The former league MVP would have something to say about this getting his name on the score sheet. A penalty awarded for Nashville would see Hany Mukhtar step up to the spot in the 73rd minute and bury it making it 2-1. This made the match open up in the last 15 minutes with Nashville starting to push hard to find the equalizer. The home side would control possession but it was the Miami defense who sat back calming the Nashville attacks.

The comeback for Nashville would fall short as Miami picks up the three points with the 2-1 victory. The win puts Miami back at the top of the supporters shield as well as staying at the top of the Eastern Conference. This win makes it five straight victories for Miami as they near the Leagues Cup in which they won just a year ago. Nashville ends this season dropping both meetings in the regular season to Miami.

Next up for Inter Miami CF is a midweek match on the road visiting Charlotte FC.
