The Miami FC vs Detroit City

The Miami FC vs Detroit City

It was another chance at points at home for The Miami FC who desperately are trying to turn this season around. The South Florida side salvaged a point last time out after blowing a two-goal lead against Loudoun United. This time around they would welcome Detroit City who currently sit 5th in the Eastern Conference. Detroit entered this match coming off a midweek defeat at the hands of Birmingham Legion by a final score of 2-1.

From the get go at FIU Stadium it was all Detroit City controlling the possession and pace of the match. They also had a good group of supporters who made the trek down from Michigan. The first chance for Miami through 44 minutes would come from Frankie Lopez who received a perfect cross in from Chris Francois. The header just missed the mark keeping the match level and would be a chance Miami would want to get back.

Detroit would make Miami pay for not capitalizing on the few chances they had been given. A bad turnover from the home side from Andrew Booth would result in a counter attack the other way. Rhys Williams just needed one touch in the box to fire past the keeper to make it 1-0. That would be the score heading into the dressing room with the visitors in the lead.

The defense for Miami had a really bad night as it was evident that they were not on the same page. The second half would start poorly with Detroit finding their second in the 51st minute. Michael Bryant was open for a header making Miami pay for the 2-0 lead. It would get worse in the 72nd minute with Detroit sub Maxi Rodriguez firing shot going off the keepers hands and into the net for 3-0.

If matters couldn't get worse it was Detroit again in stoppage time with Miami going down to 10 men after a red card was shown to Palacios. It was another counter that saw Rodriguez securing a brace to put his team up 4-0. That would be the final result with Miami continuing to struggle to find points this season. The defensive miscues was the key to this horrific defeat and will need to be addressed before the next match.

Next up for The Miami FC is a road match at the weekend visiting North Carolina FC.
