Inter Miami CF vs St. Louis City

It's been a tough week for Inter Miami CF as their unbeaten streak in the league has come to an end after falling at home to Atlanta United 3-1. Things are about to get very interesting with Lionel Messi departing for the Copa America for a couple of weeks. Messi's last match was a home match welcoming St. Louis City to Chase Stadium. City so far has not enjoyed the success that they did in their inaugural year last season.

The Herons were highly favored entering this matchup especially since they've had great success this season bouncing back after a defeat. Miami controlled most of the possession opening up the match until the 15th minute. Chris Durkin would fire off a shot from the left foot getting it past Drake Callender to give the visitors the 1-0 lead.

Who else then Lionel Messi would respond for Miami after struggling to get a shot past City goalkeeper Roman Burki. Messi would play a one-two with Jordi Alba in the 25th minute with Messi finally getting his shot past Burki for the equalizer 1-1. That would be Messi's 12th goal of the season and certainly won't be his last.

Right before the end of the half it would be St. Louis regaining the lead of the match with former Miami man Indiana Vassilev receiving a beautiful ball from Hosei Kijima with Vassilev using his right foot to slot it past Callender for 2-1. This goal would occur in the 41st minute sending the visitors to what seemed to be a lead into the dressing room.

Luis Suárez would have something to say about that as he scored in first half stoppage time sending both teams the dressing room all knotted up 2-2. In the second half St. Louis would regain the lead off of a Suarez own goal giving the visitors the 3-2 lead. At the death it was Julian Gressel who played a beautiful ball in the air for Jordi Alba who would score to equalize 3-3. The match would end knotted up with both teams sharing the points.

Next up for Inter Miami CF is an away match visiting the Philadelphia Union.
