Organized Team Activities [OTA] season is over in South Florida.

The Miami Dolphins started their first day of mandatory minicamp Tuesday and will expect full

participation all the way through Thursday.

Keeping to that, Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniels said that the team has 100 percent

attendance for minicamp.

Despite not having yet signed a new deal with Miami, quarterback Tua Tagovailoa is present

and “in the flesh” as well at minicamp.

“We’re going to have him out there and he’s going to be participating, but the depth of what he’s

doing will be up to him,” McDaniels said.

Tagovailoa is currently on his fifth -- and last -- year of his rookie contract. A contract is expected

to be done later this summer, according to Dianna Russini of The Athletic.

Another noticeable name circulating around the Dolphins has been wide receiver Tyreek Hill.

The NFL’s receiving leader last season is currently on a four-year, $120 million contract

extension that he signed in 2022 with Miami following his trade away from the Kansas City

Chief. However, it has been reported that Hill wants a bump in his pay with a new negotiated

deal.

With the recent announcement of Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson being the

highest-paid non-quarterback in the NFL with a four-year, $140 million contract extension

Monday, the Hill situation has taken on more light.

McDaniels said that Hill has expressed that he wants to retire as a Dolphin. The team and

McDaniels continue to have a strong relationship with the wide receiver, he said.

“Tyreek Hill has been unbelievably valuable to my coaching career, this franchise,” McDaniels

said. “...for him and I, we stay in our lane of our relationship. The organization will always do

right by players -- I’ll let them handle that -- let the experts be the experts.”

Hill is at the Dolphins facility for the minicamp, but isn’t expected to do 11-on-11 work,

McDaniels said.

Prior to the start of minicamp, Miami signed five of its seven 2024 Draft picks.

These rookies include fifth-round linebacker Mohamed Kamara, sixth-round safety Patrick

McMorris, fourth-round running back Jaylen Wright, and wide receivers Malik Washington

(sixth-round) and (seventh-round) Tahj Washington.

First-round defensive end Chop Robinson and second-round tackle Patrick Paul remain

unsigned.
