Inter Miami CF vs New York Red Bulls

Sitting on top of the MLS power rankings and on top of the Eastern Conference is Inter Miami CF as they are three matches unbeaten. They welcome the New York Red Bulls who last time they met Miami on a rainy day in Harrison, New Jersey would take victory over the South Florida side with former Miami man Lewis Morgan scoring. The Red Bulls enter this match coming off a 1-1 draw against Vancouver which included a red card.

A packed crowd at Chase Stadium on a busy weekend in Miami saw the match begin without much action as both clubs looked to find their rhythm. There was few opportunities at goal until the 30th minute which saw Dante Vanzeir put one in the back of the net for the Red Bulls giving them the 1-0 lead. Miami this season has struggled in the back line not to concede first.

In the second half we saw Matias Rojas come on for David Ruiz which would prove to be a pivotal substitution. In the 48th minute Lionel Messi would receive a long ball from Sergio Busquets and the Argentine would play the ball down the middle finding Rojas who equalized 1-1. Two minutes later in the 50th minute off a Red Bull turnover it would be Luis Suarez finding Messi in the box who slotted it home to make it 2-1.

12 minutes later Messi would defy gravity and thread the ball through tight space to find Rojas who fired off the shot and found itself in the back of the net making it 3-1. In the 69th minute, Suarez would receive service from Messi firing off a volley to the far post making it 4-1. Just six minuted later it would be Messi to Suarez once again looking like 2015 Barcelona as Miami made it 5-1. It would be a hat trick for Suarez in the 81st minute finding the net again to make it 6-1.

The Red Bulls were able to get on the scoresheet again with a penalty that made the match 6-2 in extra time. A match that looked like it was going New York's way resulted in a Miami masterclass in the second half between Messi and Suarez. Miami is now four matches unbeaten and remain at the top of the Eastern Conference by three points with FC Cincinnati trailing.

Next up for Inter Miami CF is a road match visiting CF Montreal at the weekend.
