Inter Miami CF vs D.C. United

Inter Miami CF vs D.C. United

It was an uneventful midweek matchup in Orlando for Inter Miami CF as they tied with their rivals 0-0 without Lionel Messi. The World Cup winner was back and fit for action as Miami welcomed D.C. United to Chase Stadium. United entered the match coming off a 4-1 thrashing at the hands of the New York Red Bulls and currently sit 9th in the Eastern Conference. Miami currently sit at the top of the conference with Cincinnati applying pressure matching them result for result.

The match started with a 35-minute weather delay as the rainy season has begun in South Florida and we can start to expect more of these. The match was even to start and would become challenging with heavy rain showing up during the first half. The best chance in the first half would be Jordi Alba finding the head of Benjamin Cremaschi who would be denied by the United keeper. The weather did not help making this a clean match.

The second half proved more of the same with both teams playing physical and trying to find that chance. Miami were not happy with the way the match was being officiated with several calls they felt should've gone their way. Drake Callender came up big in the dying moments of the match to deny Cristian Dajome's shot in what surely would have been the winner for the visitors.

This match looked like it was heading for a draw and it seemed like Cincinnati was going to overtake Miami for first in the conference but Leonardo Campana had something to say about that. Campana was subbed into the match at the closing minutes and his first action was a pass over the top from Sergio Busquets that would be controlled and shot over the United keeper hitting the crossbar and in for the goal. Miami would get the late winner 1-0 and maintain its undefeated streak in league play earning the three points.

Next up for Inter Miami CF is a road match visiting the Vancouver Whitecaps at the weekend.
