Miami Heat vs Washington Wizards
The Miami Heat entered East Sunday beginning one of the most important weeks of the season as they're so close to obtaining the 6th seed in the Eastern Conference. First, they must visit the nations capital to play the Washington Wizards who got the best of them the last time they played. This is a crucial part of the season where losses to teams like the Wizards is unacceptable. This week will determine whether Miami participates in the play-in tournament or not.
Terry Rozier had another monster game in a Heat uniform scoring 27 points followed by Bam Adebayo who put another nice game together scoring 22 points. Jimmy Butler with 17 points didn't have to do much when his teammates played the way they did. Good news for Miami as they saw both Kevin Love and Duncan Robinson return to the lineup.
For the Wizards it was Jordan Poole who has struggled to get back into form ever since joining the Wizards organization Poole would go for 22 points followed by Marvin Bagley who would grab 10 rebounds as well as 12 points. Washington desperately missed having Kyle Kuzma on the floor being their lead scorer as he sat out with a bruised right heel.
The second quarter was crucial in this game and would be the difference heading into the second half. Miami would go on a 24-7 run which included seven made three pointers with the biggest coming from Rozier making it 66-59. More threes in the second half from Robinson, Rozier, and Nikola Jovic would help extend the lead.
The Wizards were able to cut the lead to 10 but five straight points from Butler would put the game to rest. Miami would get a much needed win 119-107 putting the pressure on the Indiana Pacers to continue to get results to remain in 6th. Tough opponents are in store this week for Miami who are close in the standings which means all of these games will be crucial with eight games in the season remaining.
Next up for the Miami Heat is a home game welcoming the New York Knicks to the Kaseya Center.
