Miami Heat vs New Orleans Pelicans

Miami Heat vs New Orleans Pelicans

It was a hard fought victory on the road last time out for the Heat defeating the Cleveland Cavaliers by three. This brought the attention back home hosting the New Orleans Pelicans in which things got chippy last time these two teams met. Jimmy Butler would be suspended two games for his involvement in the altercation. Miami needs to keep winning games in order to try to get out of a play-in game battling Philadelphia for positioning.

It was not a productive offensive night at all for any member of the Miami Heat. It was a frustrating game to watch with Butler only bringing in 17 points being the teams lead scorer. Terry Rozier would follow that with 13 points and Bam Adebayo with just 12 points and 10 rebounds. Butler said following the game that nobody is afraid of playing against this Heat team right now.

CJ McCollum had a monster night racking in 30 points making it his fifth 30-point game of the season. Jose Alvarado followed that by putting up 17 points who was motivated to play Miami being one of the players involved in the altercation last time they met. Trey Murphy bagged 14 points followed by Naji Marshall who put up 13 points. Wasn't the most productive for Zion Williamson as he only scored four points on the night.

The Pelicans were without Brandon Ingram as well as the Heat still missing Tyler Herro, Kevin Love, and add Duncan Robinson to the mix with Adebayo returning to the lineup. Miami has struggled at home currently dropping 10 out of its last 17 at the Kaseya Center. They're also 2-15 overall when they fail to score 100 points or more.

Jimmy Butler brought the team to within one after hitting a triple to start the second half but that was a close as they would get. The Pelicans would follow up with a 11-0 run to remain in control of the game comfortably. They would only trail once to Miami and that was in the second quarter which lasted for about 22 seconds. The Pelicans defeat the Heat 111-88 and despite the loss, Miami remains in 7th after a Philadelphia loss to Los Angeles.

Next up for the Miami Heat is a home game welcoming the Cleveland Cavaliers to the Kaseya Center.
