Miami Heat vs Dallas Mavericks
It was back on track for the Heat this week after defeating the Detroit Pistons which put them back in the win column. In reality, Miami has a chance to make it all the way to the 3rd seed of the Eastern Conference. They've certainly elevated play since after the all-star break which includes seeing glimpses of playoff Jimmy coming alive. It was time to hit the road and face a struggling Dallas Mavericks team at the American Airlines Center.
Terry Rozier had one of the best games in a Heat jersey so far scoring 27 points and 11 assists which makes his highest scoring since being traded. Duncan Robinson gets his sixth straight start with Tyler Herro out with injury would score 19 points. Jimmy Butler would have an off night with only scoring 14 points. Kevin Love would miss his fourth straight game nursing that heel injury as the Heat continue to struggle with injuries.
Mavericks star player Luka Doncic would go for 35 points and 11 rebounds with 11 assists recording five consecutive 30-point triple doubles. Kyrie Irving would follow that mounting on 23 points and Dante Exum contributing with 13 points coming off the bench. Daniel Gafford in the starting lineup would be the third highest scorer with 12 points.
The Mavericks entered this game hungry to get back in the win column with being on a three-game losing streak coming against the Boston Celtics, Philadelphia 76ers, and the Indiana Pacers. There was a viral clip of Doncic smashing a water bottle on the floor while on the bench during the losing streak. Miami meanwhile has been mediocre on the road with a 18-13 record.
The Heat were up on the Mavericks 101-100 but Dallas would go on a 10-4 run with three pointers from Doncic, Exum, and Irving that would pull them ahead. Rozier would be the only hope to keep Miami alive and brought them within two 106-104 but Irving would put the dagger with a three. Dallas would defeat Miami by a final score of 114-108.
Next up for the Miami Heat is the second of a back-to-back visiting the Oklahoma City Thunder.
