Miami Heat vs Los Angeles Clippers
Finally the Miami Heat are back on track and in the win column after back-to-back victories over the Sacramento Kings and the Washington Wizards. Jimmy Butler has elevated his play attacking the basket more and they definitely need that welcoming the Los Angeles Clippers. The Clippers enter this game hot sitting 3rd in the Western Conference. Miami continues with a strong schedule ahead in February with a chance to swim or slip.
Butler had another strong showing after getting back to his old ways finishing the night with 21 points. Terry Rozier would follow suit with 17 points his best game so far in a Heat uniform. Bam Adebayo and Josh Richardson would each have 14 points and with Caleb Martin finishing with 11. Duncan Robinson remained out with concussion protocol and Tyler Herro was a last minute scratch due to a migraine.
Clippers star Kawhi Leonard would lead his team on the night finishing with 25 points and 11 rebounds. James Harden would follow with 21 points scoring 16 of them in the second half. Norman Powell scored 16 points and former Heat rival Paul George finished with a low of 11 points.
For the 12th time this season the Miami Heat were kept under 100 points and when that happens most of the time the Heat have lost with a record of 2-10. The Heat shot only 42% from the field compared to the Clippers 50% which came in the second half. Miami battled with Los Angeles but the second half was too much to handle especially Harden.
Clippers outscored the Heat in the second half 27-12 beyond the arch and were an impressive 17-20 from the free throw line. Clippers go on to defeat the Heat 103-95 knocking Miami down to the 8th seed in the Eastern Conference. Erik Spoelstra stated that Miami will continue to work on how they can execute things better offensively.
Next up for the Miami Heat is a home game welcoming the Orlando Magic to the Kaseya Center.
