Miami Heat vs Brooklyn Nets
Back-to-back wins for the Miami Heat takes them from 7th in the Eastern Conference up to 5th as they hit the road for the second night of a back-to-back. Miami would visit the Brooklyn Nets who are currently 16-23 sitting 10th in the final spot of the play-in tournament. The Eastern Conference is so bunched up that Miami is just two games off of the 3rd spot.
The good news for the Miami Heat was the return of Jimmy Butler after missing seven games and would finish the night with 31 points. Tyler Herro would follow suit with 29 points and 11 rebounds and to top it off was Bam Adebayo with 11 points and 20 rebounds. Miami's big three came to play and showed when they're all healthy they're a major threat.
Mikel Bridges would lead the way for the Brooklyn Nets scoring 26 points followed by Cam Thomas who would go on to add 23. It was important for Thomas to contribute with those 23 because the rest of Brooklyns starters struggled to get to double digits. Royce O'Neale provided 15 points coming off the bench as well which was kept Brooklyn in the game.
The Miami Heat would have a season-low in the first half only scoring 31 points but Erik Spoelstra would get his team going in the second half. The Heat did a great job defensively holding the Nets to just 30% shooting. The Nets would force overtime and would go on to start the overtime period grabbing the first five points. The Heat would go on a 8-2 run to close the gap and forcing Brooklyn to miss the final shot.
The Heat would go on to defeat the Nets 96-95 advancing to a third straight victory and the Nets would go on to drop the third straight game. That's also the third straight game where the Heat were able to keep their opponent under 100 points. Miami were able to cut a 14-point lead by making the right shots and playing defense but cannot afford to play from behind all the time.
Next up for the Miami Heat is a road game visiting the Toronto Raptors on Wednesday night.
