Miami Dolphins vs Washington Commanders
The road trip in the northeast for the Miami Dolphins continues after they defeated the New York Jets on Black Friday 34-13. They would now visit the nations capital for a showdown in the cold against the NFC East Washington Commanders. With a victory and a Kansas City Chiefs loss it could make Miami the #1 team in the AFC.
Tyreek Hill finished the afternoon with two touchdowns amongst five catches for 157 yards meanwhile his QB Tua Tagavailoa would finish the day going 18 of 24 for 280 yards and several touchdown passes. The return of RB De'Von Achne would provide two touchdowns with fellow RB Raheem Mostert also adding one touchdown.
Washington found themselves in a position were Ron Rivera was calling the shots defensively after coordinator Jack Del Rio was fired following the loss on thanksgiving to the Dallas Cowboys. Their QB Sam Howell would run for two touchdowns while going 12 of 23 for 127 yards on the afternoon with one interception.
Mike McDaniel was a happy man after he picked up his first ever win at FedEx Field ever since departing Washington where he was an assistant to Mike Shanahan from 2011-2013. It was not pretty on the Commanders sideline after Howell's pick six into the hands of Van Ginkel. Offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy could be seen yelling at Howell.
The Dolphins defeat the Commanders 45-15 improving them to 9-3 for the first time since the 2001 season. They comfortably lead the AFC East and with the Chiefs loss to the Packers they now sit at the top of the entire AFC. The Commanders now have been outscored 90-25 in back-to-back losses and have lost nine of 11 after starting the season with back-to-back victories.
Next up for the Miami Dolphins is a home game welcoming the Tennessee Titans to Hard Rock Stadium for Monday Night Football.
