Miami Heat vs Washington Wizards

 Miami Heat vs Washington Wizards

The NBA season took a quick pause on Friday night to begin the beginning of the inaugural NBA In-Season tournament. Every NBA team will have specialized courts and will wear the new city edition uniforms. Each conference will have three groups and victories in the tournament will count towards the regular season as well as the tournament. The Miami Heat began group play welcoming the Washington Wizards into the Heat's house.

Both of these southeast division teams entered the game really desperate to earn a victory as Miami is currently 1-4 while Washington is currently 1-3. A victory for either team would put win #2 on the record as well as starting on the right foot in this new tournament.

The Heat would take advantage in the first half that the Wizards despite shooting 56% would turnover the ball 11 times. Miami would shoot 60% in the first half which made things pretty even but Miami was able to pull away in the game.

A huge Miami lead would prompt the Wizards to empty the bench just in the third quarter and allow the bench to get some minutes. This decision would also prompt Erik Spoelstra to take out his starters leaving the battle between benches.

The Wizards bench would go on a 15-0 run prompting Spoelstra to re-insert his starters back into the game. Another game where Miami has a huge lead and let the opposition close the gap and well that might work against Washington, it won't work against top teams in the association.

The Miami Heat would go on to close the game off with another big night from Tyler Herro dropping 24 points in the 121-114 victory. Miami improves to 2-4 on the season while Washington falls to 1-4.

Next up for the Miami Heat is a regular season game welcoming the Los Angeles Lakers on Monday night.
