The Miami FC vs Hartford Athletic
The Miami FC has come up with a clutch three-match winning streak putting pressure on FC Tulsa and Detroit City to come up with results. The win for Miami over the weekend puts them in the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. They welcomed Hartford Athletic to FIU Stadium who has been struggling all season and sitting dead last.
Every match from here on forward probably for last month has been considered a cup final for the South Florida team as every point matters. What other way to jump into that final playoff spot then on fan appreciation night at FIU Stadium.
The fans have been incredible giving life to the team and the will to fight for this playoff spot. Hartford held strong through the opening 45 stopping multiple chances on goal from Miami. You could feel the nerves and frustration from the team as this is a must win match.
The moment of magic would arrive in the 65th minute coming from Florian Valot. Stanley would serve up a cross giving Valot a fantastic volley that found the back of the net for 1-0. Miami kept the foot on the gas as an insurance goal would put them and fans at ease.
Valot would add to his impressive performance in the 78th minute serving up an assist to Joaquin Rivas doubling the lead to 2-0. Miami found their insurance goal and can now fully focus on defense to seal the deal on this match.
The Miami FC would go on to defeat Hartford Athletic 2-0 and earn all three points putting them in the 8th and final spot for the playoffs. With two matches left they must continue to earn results to fend off Tulsa and Detroit who sit just one and two points off. Any slip up can cost a lot and be crucial to the end of this season.
