Miami Heat vs Minnesota Timberwolves

 Miami Heat vs Minnesota Timberwolves

The Miami Heat have been given a brutal schedule to start off the 2023 season facing some of the top teams of the league especially teams that made the playoffs last season. It was the first back-to-back for Miami visiting the Minnesota Timberwolves after coming off a loss to the Celtics the night before.

Naz Reid was "him" at the Target Center on Saturday night as he paved the way with 25 points on 10 for 14 shooting within 28 minutes. This helped the Timberwolves surpass the Heat 106-90 handing them their second straight loss and second loss of the season.

Only three games in but opponents are finding a way to beat Miami late in ballgames outscoring them in the 4th quarter. Anthony Edwards capped his night with 19 points as Minnesota outscored Miami 24-4 in the final 7:45 of the game.

For Miami, they entered the game without Jimmy Butler as Coach Spoelstra gave him a night off and without Kevin Love due to a bruised left shoulder. Boy wonder Tyler Herro had another impressive night with 22 points on 8 for 23 shooting. Bam Adebayo chimed in with 19 points for himself.

The Timberwolves would bully the Heat in the paint due to the size advantage which is a problem Miami frequently has. Karl Anthony-Towns would have 12 points and 10 rebounds while Rudy Gobert the multiple time defensive player of the year would add 14 points and 14 rebounds. Minnesota would have a 58-38 advantage on points in the paint.

Due to the fact that Miami were without Butler and Love, it would mean that there was extended minutes for rookie Jaime Jaquez Jr and sophomore Nikola Jokic. Duncan Robinson had a poor shooting night being 2 for 10 beyond the arch.

Next up for the Miami Heat is a road game on Monday night visiting the Milwaukee Bucks.
