Inter Miami CF vs Chicago Fire
For the fourth straight match there would be no Lionel Messi as he continues to work with the medical team to get back on the field. There is talks that Messi will return for Saturdays upcoming match against FC Cincinnati. Before Messi's possible return, his team would have to go into Soldier Field and come away with a victory to keep playoff hopes alive.
The first half of this match consisted of both teams trying to grow into the match and find the opener. Opportunities in the final third were scarce as both teams struggled to create any true chance on the opposing keeper. The match would head to halftime all knotted up 0-0 with all top play for in the final 45 minutes.
The Swiss international Xherdan Shaqiri would open the scoring early in the second half for Chicago making it 1-0 in the 49th minute.
The Herons were able to respond quickly there after in the 52nd minute with a handball called in the box giving Miami a chance to equalize from the spot. Josef Martinez would step up and nail the penalty making it a 1-1 match.
The Fire would go on to stop any momentum that Miami had with scoring three more goals. The goals would come from Maren Haile-Selassie with a brace and then Shaqiri also earning himself a brace. Fire would earn the three points with the 4-1 victory.
Inter Miami CF are mathematically still alive but they don't control their destiny anymore they must win out and have help from around the league in terms of results.
