FIU vs New Mexico State
After a devastating loss at home for the Panthers, they would hit the road for another conference matchup this time in Las Cruces, New Mexico. FIU were marked underdogs by ESPN in this matchup against a struggling New Mexico State team. This is a chance for FIU to bounce back from the Liberty game and get back on track.
Panthers QB Keyone Jenkins would go 25 for 32 and a total of 250 passing yards as well as 34 yards on the ground with one touchdown.
WR Kris Mitchell finished the game with eight catches for 91 yards. Dean Patterson would go for five catches on 88 yards. Eric Rivers would also go for five receptions bringing in 60 yards.
FIU would never be behind more than one touchdown in this game until the final quarter. They would battle back and fourth with New Mexico really putting them in a position to add their fourth win of the season.
New Mexico State would add a field goal with a minute remaining in the game extending the lead to 34-17 icing the game for any comeback from FIU.
The Panthers fall to 3-3 on the season and 0-3 in the conference as they currently sit dead last in the Conference USA table.
Next up for the FIU Panthers is a home game welcoming UTEP to FIU Stadium at midweek.
