The Miami FC vs Birmingham Legion

The Miami FC vs Birmingham Legion

It was a huge victory last week for The Miami FC as the season is at its dying stages and they continue to push for a playoff spot. Winning out would be the perfect scenario for the South Florida side to be able to land a playoff spot. They hit the road to face the Birmingham Legion which presents a challenge within itself.

A win on the road would put Miami in striking distance of taking the 8th and final spot for the playoffs in the Eastern Conference. Birmingham currently sits in 7th of the conference but is being threatened to fall into 8th by Detroit City.

It was a very one sided match with the Legion taking 23 shots compared to Miami's only 9. We all know in this game that making the most of its chances is what really matters. Miami was down in possession as well as shots on target.

Ben Ofeimu would draw first blood for the visiting team with a splendid goal giving Miami the 1-0 lead in the 35th minute. The Legion continued with its dominant play but the back line of Miami is what made the difference with its discipline.

The dagger would arrive later in the match with Kyle Murphy capitalizing in the 84th minute making it a 2-0 Miami lead. This would seal the deal and give the visiting side the +3 points and would be absolutely crucial for this Miami side. They've shown determination and fight to keep their playoff dreams alive and make the fan base happy.

With the victory, it puts Miami just two points off from the final playoff spot with just three matches remaining in the regular season.

Next up for The Miami FC is a home match welcoming Hartford Athletic to FIU Stadium at the weekend.
