The Miami FC vs Phoenix Rising FC

The Miami FC vs Phoenix Rising FC

The Miami FC sit just three points off the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference but need to start earning victories if they want to reach that final spot. Just like the recent Florida drought, Miami is in a drought of finding victories. They were back at home this weekend at FIU Stadium welcoming Phoenix Rising FC.

Right from the first whistle you could tell Miami were hungry to end this winless streak and finally get back on track. Phoenix were overwhelmed from the very beginning from the constant attacks coming from Miami's offense.

It took just 15 minutes for the home team as Kyle Murphy slotted one in from up close to make it a 1-0 lead. You could hear the joy ringing around FIU Stadium urging the home side to continue this effort.

The intensity was raised in the building in the 44th minute with Phoenix finding a 1-1 equalizer to send both teams to the dressing room all knotted up.

In the second half it would be Miami's determination that gave them the opportunity to control the match and play how they wanted to play.

In the 55th minute Christian Sorto took on a couple of defenders blowing past them for a wonderful solo goal giving Miami the 2-1 lead.

Miami's defense were able to do something they've struggled with all season and that is not allowing a comeback or equalizer. The Miami FC holds on for a 2-1 victory putting them back on track giving them +3 ending the streak.

Next up for The Miami FC is a midweek matchup on the road visiting FC Tulsa.
