Inter Miami CF vs Cruz Azul

Inter Miami CF vs Cruz Azul

The celebration continues for the city of Miami but it's time to get down to business as the newly created Leagues Cup between MLS and Liga MX has arrived. It arrives with much excitement as it meant the debut for new signings Lionel Messi and Sergio Busquets.

A sold out DRV PNK Stadium and star studded as well gave much energy to the Herons to kick off the Leagues Cup. It was back and fourth to kickoff the match but the tide started to turn in the 25th minute of the match. Robbie Robinson and Leonardo Campana threatened on goal but nothing came out of those chances.

Right before the teams headed for the dressing room in the 44th minute it was Robert Taylor who would make it 1-0 for Inter Miami CF. Robinson found Taylor on a cross who cut in beating his defender and getting a shot off the post for the goal.

In the second half it would be Cruz Azul who would equalize making it 1-1 leaving Miami fans silent and with worrisome faces.

That would come to an end with the entrance of Messi into the match as well as Busquets making immediate impacts. Lionel Messi would earn a set piece just outside the 18 and would do well what Messi does and scored the free kick. The Argentine gave Miami the 2-1 victory with DRV PNK Stadium being the loudest its ever been.

Next up for Inter Miami CF in the Leagues Cup is a matchup against Atlanta United during the week.
