Inter Miami CF vs D.C. United

Inter Miami CF vs D.C. United

A brand new start and era for Inter Miami CF as Javier Morales takes over for Phil Neville at the head coaching position. We would get to see somewhat of the style Morales wants to play just 48 hours after the sacking of Neville. Miami would welcome fellow Eastern Conference foes D.C. United to DRV PNK Stadium in Fort Lauderdale.

This was a very weird and unusual match from start to finish. The match started poorly for Miami as defender Kamal Miller picked up a red card after impeding a one-on-one opportunity for the visitors.

Down to 10 men, the Herons were able to just hold on despite giving up a ton of shots to United. Drake Callender kept them in the match as well with a HUGE save off of a shot from Benteke.

The second half would see Leonardo Campana enter the match for Josef Martinez who complained about discomfort in his hamstrings. Unlucky for Miami they would have two injuries to Dixon Arroyo and Ryan Sailor making way for Ian Fray and Christopher McVey.

In the 76th minute it would be Donovan Pines who would find himself in a scramble with Callender at the far post and would able to force the ball in to make it a 1-0 United lead. Benteke would later on double that in the 90th minute to make it 2-0.

The substitute Ian Fray would score a remarkable goal at the 90th minute to make it a 2-1 match but there was no time left for any sort of equalizer or comeback. Inter Miami CF drop their 5th straight and continue to sit dead last in the Eastern Conference.

Next up for Inter Miami CF is a quarterfinal matchup in the U.S. Open Cup against Birmingham Legion followed by a road match as the weekend against the New England Revolution.
