The Miami FC vs Tampa Bay Rowdies
Finally, the most anticipated fixture for both Miami and Tampa fans arrived this past weekend. The rivalry between The Miami FC and the Tampa Bay Rowdies is a matchup that is really anticipated for fans around the USL Championship. The first edition in the 2023 campaign was hosted by the Rowdies at Al Lang Stadium with the South Florida side still searching for their first victory of the season.
Head coach Anthony Pulis was pleased with the performance of his team controlling most of the game. The same persistent issue for Miami continues as they struggle to turn their opportunities into goals in the final third.
With a dominance in possession for Miami, they had the first look in the 20th minute but couldn't find the back of the net.
First blood would go to the home side as Sebastian Guenzatti would give the Rowdies the 1-0 lead 22 minutes into the match.
The first half would end with Tampa leading Miami 1-0 and leaving them in a uncomfortable place for the first time this season as Miami usually tends to jump in front first.
In the second half it would be Tampa Bay who would set the tone for the half. A set piece in the 54th minute would double the lead for the home team making it 2-0.
The Miami FC had multiple chances towards the end of the match to get one back especially in the 84th minute but could not convert.
The Tampa Bay Rowdies take the 2-0 victory in the first edition of this rivalry in the 2023 campaign while Miami continues to search for their first victory.
