Miami Marlins vs Minnesota Twins
The Marlins entered this three-game home stand welcoming in the American League Minnesota Twins into loanDepot Park. The Fish entered this series 1-3 after losing the opening series to NL East rivals the New York Mets. The Twins entered this series 3-0 after a clean sweep of the Kansas City Royals to get a great start to the season.
Marlins 1-11 Twins:
Johnny Cueto vs Tyler Mahle
It was a short day for Cueto being relieved of his duties in just the second inning after Joey Gallo hit a three-run homer. Cueto was put on the IR for 15 days as the Twins destroy Miami by a final score of 11-1.
Marlins 1-0 Twins:
Sandy Alcantara vs Kenta Maeda
The first complete game by a pitcher this MLB season goes to Miami's very own Sandy Alcantara. He struck out five and only walked one. Maeda who is coming off Tommy John surgery struck out nine but Avisail Garcia homered in the second inning to give the Marlins 1-0 victory.
Marlins 5-2 Twins:
Jesus Luzardo vs Pablo Lopez
It was a great pitchers duel Wednesday afternoon as Lopez and Luzardo the former teammates go for a combined 18 strikeouts. A Bryan De La Cruz single and two homers from Jorge Soler pushed the Marlins to the 5-2 victory and series win.
Next up for the Marlins is the first road trip of the season in a weekend series at Citi Field facing the New York Mets once again.
