Inter Miami CF vs NYCFC

 Inter Miami CF vs NYCFC

After a dream start for Phil Neville's men at home, it was time to see if they could continue that form on the road. Inter Miami CF visit NYCFC at Yankee Stadium in which is one of the most hated pitches to play at in the league due to the baseball configuration.

For the third straight week there was no Leonardo Campana, Robbie Robinson, Jake LaCava, and this time Shanyder Borgelin.

Even though those key players were missing, Miami had many chances in this match to pull ahead especially chances from Josef Martinez. Rodolfo Pizarro once again had a nice showing being able to be creative and push the ball forward as well as creating space.

The 36th minute would hurt Miami through a set piece that would see Santiago Rodriguez on the right side sending a ball into the box finding the feet of Christopher McVey who tried to clear for the black and pink. McVey would accidentally send his clearance into his own goal giving New York City the 1-0 lead in the match.

In the second half it was the all blue of NYCFC who grew comfortable in the match and did whatever they wanted to do. Miami lost composure after the mistake by McVey and were never able to recover with their best chances coming in the first half.

The 70th minute would bring another blow for Miami with captain Gregory going down after a behind tackle from former Miami player Pelligrini. The Brazilian was helped off the field and would later be seen being taken out of Yankee Stadium by stretcher. No further updates have been given on his status but seems to be a serious injury that would be a huge loss for the team.

Once again it was a dominant performance by goalkeeper Drake Callendar who was the sole reason why New York City did not score more. His performances should get a nod from the USMNT for a chance at some appearances.

The 1-0 loss for Miami is their first of the season as they get set to go back to the northeast next week to visit Toronto FC.
